Personalised care, therapeutic intervention, and developmental support designed to help each child grow with confidence.
KOWYAS Society has been continuously working for the holistic development of individuals with special needs for the past 45 years. At the organization’s Jidda Special School, Functional Education is provided to students aged 7 to 18 years, while the Vocational Training Centre provides training to individuals aged 18 to 45 years.
The first six years of a child’s life are extremely important for overall development. Recognizing the importance of early identification and timely support, KOWYAS Society established the Early Intervention Centre to identify developmental difficulties at an early stage and provide appropriate therapy, intervention, and training.
The Early Intervention Centre provides comprehensive services for children from birth to six years of age, focusing on the early identification and appropriate management of developmental delays, developmental risk factors, and special needs.
Special emphasis is placed on Developmental Screening, detailed Assessment, Parent Counselling, and Parent Guidance. An Individualized Intervention Plan (IIP) is prepared according to the specific needs of each child, followed by regular therapy and intervention sessions. Through these interventions, systematic efforts are made to develop the child’s Cognitive, Language, Social, Self-care, and Motor Skills.
The following multidisciplinary services are available at the centre:
Various exercises and therapeutic activities are conducted to improve children’s mobility, muscle strength, balance, walking abilities, and posture.
Activities are designed to develop daily living skills, Fine Motor Skills, functional use of the hands, independence, and overall functional abilities.
Therapy is provided to develop speech, language comprehension, communication, pronunciation, social communication, and alternative communication skills.
Individualized education is provided according to each child’s needs and abilities, with a focus on developing academic skills, conceptual understanding, life skills, and independence.
The child’s behaviour is carefully observed and assessed, and appropriate techniques are used to encourage positive behaviour and reduce inappropriate behaviour. Interventions also focus on improving attention, social skills, and emotional regulation.
Parents are guided regarding their child’s needs, development, education, and day-to-day management. They are also provided with information about activities that can be carried out at home, along with the necessary guidance and support.
The period from birth to six years is considered the “Golden Period” in the development of children with special needs. When developmental difficulties are identified early and appropriate therapeutic and educational interventions are provided at the right time, significant positive changes can be achieved in a child’s development.
With this objective, KOWYAS Society established the Early Intervention Centre and is committed to making quality, multidisciplinary services accessible to an increasing number of children in the future.
KOWYAS Society continues to work towards the holistic development of children with special needs, the empowerment of their families, and their dignified inclusion in society. The organization remains committed to expanding access to high-quality services and support.
“To identify the potential of every child and help them become as independent, capable, and confident as possible.”
